So, taken together the whole verse speaks about the conquest of evil by the forces of goodness. Siva and Muruga are the languages with which this is stated, and the evil is nothing but our ignorance, pride, sense of identity and agency. Siva destroys it with a smile, Muruga with the sharp point of his spear.
Ultimately it is Grace that overwhelms all distress, and there is no violence in it.
So then, when Siva smiles, there is no sense of identity and pride?
ReplyDeleteOr is it there, because he knows everything, and all.
And since he is the creator, since he knows all, we must not be proud because if we are, then we will question, and discover that, which is to be untouched.
A thought.
May be, all of what you say is true!
ReplyDeleteWe should question everything, there is no doubt about that, of course.
But it should be done respectfully, for our own good.
But if we question contemptuously, it won't do us any good, right?
Even to say There is no God, is okay, as long as you are looking for God.
And if I am not looking for God, I can say, "Who cares?", and that is okay, too.
Regards,
Of course I am not being disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteOr contemptuous.
By questioning, I am being respectful.
But not questioning for the sake of questioning. Reading and then stating. The question marks in the sentences do not mean that I am asking a question and want an answer.
Be comfortable. Don't mind my musings.
I am sorry if I sounded like that.
ReplyDeleteIt is because of lack of personal knowledge that this kind of misunderstanding comes to be.
The two people who have influenced me the most are Ramana and J.Krishnamurti.
As you know, JK questions everything and says trust nothing, believe nothing, follow no authority, avoid all interpreters and so on.
Questions are more important than answers.
You can say anything you like, you can say, "This is Godawful bullshit", and I don't think I would be offended.
All that I post is only what I think. They may be wrong, may be fifty percent, may be ninety percent. They have no validity.
Your comments whether negative or positive, could only be helpful. You can't say anything wrong here.
So. I have to thank you for making them.
Regards,
