"These five don't let me meditate on you or to think of you, or to place flowers upon your feet and come to you."
This is about the play of senses that distract us from our chosen vocation. I understand it to point out the difficulty in maintaining a constant and undisturbed awareness of the presence of God in our lives. It cannot be that we find it hard to think of God, say a few prayers now and then, or go to a temple and pay worship. The difficulty lies in moving away from our preoccupations and be wholly aware of the presence of Unity among all the diverse phenomena that happen around us.

Restlessness, unable to find peace and looking about. Unable to free myself from distractions. Till I looked within.
God is a shorthand for many things, most of all our sense of being nothing and everything. It is not going to temple or defending it from enemies.
ReplyDeleteI feel God is found first in the Heart and then outside.
In a bookshop I overheard this quote,
"Find the God within your Heart, and everywhere you will see a temple,
Seek God in a multitude of temples and nowhere will you find Him"
Or something like that.
