If there is anything I can be granted this year, I ask for some clarity. Thought is like a cloud that shuts out any sort of joy that could illuminate life. I read this somewhere about science, knowledge is like an island- the more you know, the more the island grows and the more the shoreline expands and then there is more to know.
It is like that with me. The contradictions, the confusions that litter my life are too painful even to think about, what to say of speaking out loud? It looks like I have to live with this all my life.
I have tried to live unpretentiously. You can decide to do that, but you can't consciously do that. Suppose I want to be humble and not-angry, then when I make myself humble and not-angry, it is a kind of pretentiousness, too, because I am acting out of thought, out of prior decisions- I am conforming only to myself, my past etc etc., it is all very confusing, as I said.
However, let's hope things get better.
My Blog List
This is not exactly an exegesis of Kandharalangaram. A friend, who is more a path-breaker for me, suggested some time ago that I should read this great text. Now I start with Thirumuruga Kirubhanandha Variar's commentary, and here are my reflections on this great poetic and devotional work of Arunagirinathar. May the Lord bless us with Peace and Happiness!

That's how it is. The decision to be humble, and endearing to others carries the risk of judging yourself as unpretentious.
ReplyDeleteThe quality of pretension is described by society. Those who fear poverty judge the rich on the basis of charity.
Could you ask Naren Sabarish if he has any art-work for "A Little Fish Learns to Hop" and "The Blue Fox"?
ReplyDeleteYes, he does draw but the problem is that I don't have the technology to put it into computers. Hopefully, in this month or the next, I will find a way to do that.
ReplyDeleteWish you a great year.
bas, welcome back
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon...
ReplyDeleteThinking again, I think once you decide to be unpretentious, it means you are carrying on the pretence! Otherwise what is the necessity to try to be unpretentious? Unpretentiousness is nothing to be proud about, because, in a sort of deconstruction, we can see pretence as its other face.
Hope things get better.
you tell modesty is another form of prudence.
ReplyDeleteModesty is definitely prudent; and also not far away from prurience. It could even be a strategy to mask such impulses!- people with dark glasses can let their eyes rove wherever they want to...
