Prapanjamennum chettrai: The morass of worldly existence.
This world that we see around us, is supposed to be illusory. Whether this is illusory in the sense that the world does not exist at all, or in the sense that the world does not exist the way we see it to be: any answer would be dogmatic.
There is no way we could know this at present. It could be that it is totally illusory, or it could be that our knowledge of it, based on previous memories, coloured by ideas and images is a distorted reality. It is better for me not to go into this concept, it is totally theoretical.
As far as experience goes, the idea of a distorted reality is more true: but the depth of distortion could be more than what I know. The world as dream-illusion also appeals, if we compare the reality of a dream with that of waking state: our waking-state experiences could also be time-bound and merely experiental. But to go any further would be totally speculative.
Cheru means, slush, sludge, I think.
We are not merely morassed in the dirty mud of worldly existence, it envelops us in a layer of worldliness.
